My Nokia C3 |
“Where the hell it went all of sudden… it was with me, wasn’t it??”
After a long journey from Mumbai to Pune, I was worn out and didn’t bother about the phone for the first one hour. The last remembrances of my phone were talking to a friend and forwarding funny SMS’s to others. Hardly, a couple of months used and scratchless my Nokia C3 was infact a masterpiece.
A short interval, I called up my number to see if the phone rings within house so that I could locate it. Alas! Nowhere was the phone.
Panic button was pressed. People were ordered to investigate for the device. My sis, dad, aunt, cousins etc were all on the treasure hunt by now, without any success.
45 mins of rigorous search (that included moving cupboards, refrigerator and beds) later we were convinced that the phone wasn’t in-house. Lost, that’s all I could think about it.
I rushed downstairs to see if the phone slipped out of my pockets while returning change to the auto-driver. But again, luck didn’t favor at all.
Dark Clouds started hovering me, I had accepted the loss. ‘Third!!’ I said to myself, reminding me the previous 2 losses.
Hope was the last string I held. As the phone was ringing and wasn’t switched off yet, I called up my mom, brother, and friends in order that they could continuously call up and check that if someone picks it up plead him/her to return the phone back home.
Another 30 mins down, yet 100’s of missed calls already reported but no success. Defeat was one near truth.
I tried for the 20th time and this time the phone went busy. What do you think crept through my mind first….“this guy (whosoever got the phone) is gobbling up all my balance :( ”, but I was wrong. I got more hope to catch hold on the situation and repeated the missed calls. (Meanwhile same was done by other associates on this treasure hunt).
The phone was answered.
Yes, after 2.5 hours of panic streak the phone was received by an auto-driver who was at a distant location.
I spoke to him and requested to return my phone back, he acknowledged my request and told me the time and location to meet in order to return the phone.
I cannot comment as on how to let you know the joy that swept throughout.
Next day, exactly after 12 hours of the incident, I got it back... I thanked the auto-driver and presented him a memento while appreciating/thanking him for his noble deed. He explained me, that while giving him the auto-fare somehow I forgot my phone in the backseat which he collected it.
This infact reminds me of many such people who are still true to their spirit. God bless the Auto Driver.
