India hosts a variety of cultures which are cultivated and preserved by billions of people across generations. Rajasthan and its culture is also one primitive and renowned cultures of India.
Capturing the spirit of Rajasthan and ensuring the perfect Rajasthani experience is Chokhi Dhani, a unique Village Resort. Chokhi Dhani literally means a “fine hamlet” i.e. a quintessential village. Away from the urban life this resort is situated at the outskirts of Pune where I, Husain, Murtuza and Rahul escaped after a long day at work.
Chokhi Dhani is a crowded place during weekends, hence it was good to visit on a typical Tuesday. We reached the place at half past 7 in the evening and post formal regulations to fulfill entered the world of Rajasthani culture.
It is always good to go for a visit without any pre-conceived notions about a place. The more you anticipate that the place you gonna visit is fabulous, the less it turns out to be. Hence, my expectations were to the minimum when I entered, and on exit I was a satisfied customer.
Chokhi Dhani has various Rajasthani theme based activities and amenities to blend the urban vs. rural flavor of enjoyment. We were provided with a guide, who vented us through various activities across the resort. There were several self-involvement activities as well as performances (folk dance, singing etc.) which we participated in as below :
1. Pottery - we made little pots with assistance provided by the mason there.
2. Camel Ride / Bullock cart ride
3. Palmist - This was worthy visiting. The palmist scanned mine, Murtuza's and Rahul's palms voraciously. He was pretty accurate at the predictions he made and we walked away happily giving him a tip.
4. Body Massage
5. Folk Dance/Folk Dance with Fire Acrobatics etc etc
6. Folk Singing
7. Puppet Show
8. The Great Indian Rope Act
9. Bio-Scope, etc etc
10. and many more...
Of all the exciting things that we did, I found the dinner and their hospitality at dine the best. A perfect show of hospitality was demonstrated while serving dinner. The food was fresh and was served hot. There were a couple of sweet dishes followed by ample of vegetarian options served one after the other. They were very attentive to us and it was a pleasure.
We completed all possible activities and exited the park at approximately 11 PM. We brought along the pots that we created and have preserved them as a remembrance from Chokhi Dhani.
